However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me- the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.
I want to share with you a story about a man who left his baby with relatives to run a few errands. But when the man returned, he learned that his baby was missing. And to his surprise, his family didn’t seem concerned with finding him at all. After expressing his anger and disappointment, the man and his relatives proceeded to look for the baby. After driving for a few minutes, the man spots his son lying in the middle of the street.
He jumps out of the car and he runs over to the baby who was amazingly still alive. As he hugged and kissed his son, he looks at his family with shame. He said I left you with one mission. That mission was to care for my son until I returned. You see that baby represented the lost, poor, sick, and babes in Christ. And the family represented you and I- the church. The man of course represented God coming back for His people. I don’t know where you are in your walk with Christ, but don’t get caught with your work undone.
Let us pray: Thank you Lord for entrusting us with the mission to further your kingdom. I know that you created us for yourself and your divine purpose. I pray that you will continue to strengthen us to run this race until you call us home. In Jesus name we pray, Amen and thank God!
