“The Power of Prayer”
What is prayer? A simple definition is communication with the Father. Did you know that it is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you to pray without ceasing?
Prayer is so essential to having a relationship with God; in the book of Matthew, chapters 5 and 6, Jesus gives us specific instructions on how to pray.
In fact, prayer is one of the most powerful weapons God has given us, and it is through Jesus that we have direct access to Him. And oh what a wonderful privilege to have a life-line to the Father.
Yes, God is our Father! It is through Jesus, who sacrificed His life for our sins so that we may live and receive the adoption into the family of God (Hebrew 7:23-27).
We are God’s children, which makes us all equal in His eyes and worthy to talk to Him. How would it make you feel if your children never talked to you?
What if I told you your Father has the answers to All your problems, and delights in hearing your voice- would you pray more? Prayer can deliver you from your enemies (Psalm 143:9).
Prayer is not only asking God for what you need, forgiveness, and confession; it is also an opportunity to praise Him for what He’s done for you and give thanks and gratitude to the Father above.
How sweet it is to have a prayer partner to pray with you and agree with scripture to back it up (Matthew 18:19). And if you don’t know what to pray for, ask the Holy Spirit to speak for you when you don’t have words to say (Romans 8:26, John 14:26).
You see God is one being in three persons- Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit! And if you don’t know how to pray. Jesus takes us to the Bible- Matthew 6:9-13 and shows us how to pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you understanding of the scriptures and speak simply from the heart to God.
No big words are needed, just faith and ask for God’s will to be done.
A word to the wise- Please Pray Before It’s Too Late!
Let us pray: Father, help us to take time out to pray and give thanks to You always. Teach us how to pray and what to pray for. Help us to come boldly to Your throne with praise and confession of our sins to receive forgiveness. And when we don’t have all the right words to say, let the Holy Spirit be our guide. We ask this prayer in Your darling son Jesus’ name- Amen.
